Ooooooh! You should totally do a Japanese font. Actual hiragana and katakana.

It's funny how you took actual kanji characters to suit the letters. I like, I like.

thanks thal. i hope i didn't create some obscene glyph or combination by doing so, but i tried to distill some representation of standard glyphs from kanji characters which i was referencing. so besides trying to create a convincing "western" asian font, i also really wanted to avoid the standard "chung king" or "charlie chan" looking asian fonts that have been around. i like how the glyphs create a type of pictogram with the words - hope they're harmless :)

This is awesome.

I don't know any Asian languages, so I can't speak to any unintended meanings. :)

Woah! Awesome. Perfect.

Wow! That looks like genuin kanji-kana. Beautiful strokes! The A,M,E,F are masterpieces.

I'm pretty sure you already considered the use of "ro" for O. It would be too obvious, perhaps cheap. Still, with a little modification, such as a short horizontal stroke in the center, it might just work.

thanks aphoria, jinx and frodo.

@frodo - changed the O but not sure if that's what you were suggesting. did another review of kanji and there were a couple like you mentioned, but couldn't find a specific ro, but thanks or feel free to post an image :)

That's really cool. Very asian-looking.
Comment by starburst 7th august 2009
The Katakana ro is a simple sqare, so I added a few strokes here and there. Feel free to experiment with.
If you have a slight inclination to learn the Katakana as well as the Hiragana alphabet there is no better way to start with but a simple song (see the link given):))

Yet another funk_king font to make us smile :-) (perhaps you should be known as FUNk_king)

I love your inventiveness

thanks starburst.

@frodo - thanks for the samples. i'll see if i can work some additional elements into the design.

@p2pnut - that's the name of the game for me and where i get lots of my inspiration - gotta have fun. that's why i try to not take it too seriously - all the pink dots and voting issues and usability issues :)

Fantastic work. Beautiful and subtle calligraphic shapes... made only with bricks!

Firing on all cylinders. A cream-filled cone and an occidental lovechild all in the same week.

@intaglio don't forget the exploding one he started and shared yesterday within some hours difference.
