Description:
The evil older brother of Ferno. Unleashed from his cage where he has been held captive for two years. wait. It says created 10.29.08. It's been about three years. Yep. He's angry about that. Long overdue for a Halloween rampage. This is a FontStruct 1.0 creation. Original stacks were created with Will's brick stacking glitch before Meek permanently made it an advanced feature. I was going to update it with new curvy bricks, but I'm afraid to touch it. It's wicked sharp.

Rock N Roll. Absolutely stunning. Looks I think V could do with looking at a little more, considering it's normal shape, it should lend itself to a much better result. Also the kerning could do with a tweak. 10/10

It won't let me vote a 10. It could be my system, but the cursor seems to be slightly to the right. Weird!

Rock on! I can't pick a favorite letter, but I love the low-hanging leg on the K and R.

I don't think even FS 2.0 (or are we now up to 3.0?) could improve on this - great stuff. 10/10

This is great! Very dynamic and textural creature feature here – jaws, claws, scratches, flames, bleeding ink, eyes and all. Neurone Error, take note: Here’s how to evoke a personified font where whole words, instead of individual letters, stalk and pounce and chatter madly...

@Williaum : i like this one but i don't see the link with my work. We absolutely don't have the same approach. You can not compare them as you do.

@neurone error: I agree, the approach you take is quite different. Your “neo-baroque”, multi-layered, anthropomorphic illustrative glyph-rendering technique is definitely avant-garde; Geneus1 wields his digital (and analog) pens with his own inimitable flair of excellence. I don’t want to draw such general comparisons, or make a hierarchic valuation. But I see a link: contrast in construction and similarity in effect!

I will make some specific observations (for the interest of illuminating feedback that has come your way before – but perhaps without such a stunning and concrete example).

To me, the gestalt of Wickedism communicates a highly animated, animalistic, and articulated quality: it is both chimeric and cinematic. Swooping contrast, taloned and beaked terminals, viciously squared jaws and claws, and this overriding sense of personification abound. The evoked personage gleams in the moonlight, a black-plumed knight in full battle regalia about to go berserk. Quite the beautifully realized head trip of a singular emotion – intimidation.

His choices of bricks – though many configurations are repeated explicitly through rotation and translation – create tightly integrated and coherent english characters with a gothic illustrative feel. It’s the brickstacked geometries that entail all these oculi (eye shapes), teeth, feathers, blades.

These qualities remind me very much of what you have attained within a single letter (I am reminded of Faun Call and all the mythic beasts you meticulously encoded into latin glyphs - especially the polygonal, checkered gryphon masterpiece). But, again, the comparison I draw is primarily a link of contrast. Similar artistic spirit, perhaps, but vastly different execution.

I said above the effect conjured here works best in the formation of words – interrelated figurative shapes harmonize within the constructs and constraints of english letters to create synesthesia. Type a word, and we begin to feel that shape-shifter stalking, pouncing, chattering arcane utterances amidst the tall, jet-black blades of elephant grass.

I think I can say it a bit more concisely: both Wickedism and much of your work evoke fantastical qualities. You populate whole kingdoms within an alphabet – so often revealing their multifarious faces within a single letter – whereas Geneus1 channels here the spirit of a single wicked warrior.

He asks the question, “How does it look when this berserker signs his name in blood?” or perhaps “What font could illustrate the onomatopoeic sound effect as he draws his vorpal blade from its mercurial sheathe?”

It was created on the 29th of October, 2008 . . . this is quite late in coming.

Just kidding! Great work, geneus. 10/10, as usual.

@Williaum : what beautiful words, even if sometimes difficult for a foreigner like me! i think you get a real talent as writer as much as typographer, you should try and develop it.
I think what is illuminated in "wickedism" is the graffiti strong background of Gene. The accent put on the movement, the tornado of the word, add some sharpness and you have a more "gothic" feel, but still linked to the graffiti world, not really to the so-called "goth" movement i think. Wickedism releases it with strength and elegance and forces admiration in how it perturbs and distorts what could have been boring modularity. This is for me the best part of Geneus One work, the most creative, cause i still can not see the point of coying Helvetica and its alike !

Concerning my own work, i worked hard lately to try and improve the
"word" level functionality of my fonts despite the always strong individuality of letters. The 21 first fonts of my definitive port-folio are now online at myfonts.com
you should check out my page:
http://new.myfonts.com/search/abneurone/fonts/
You'll see i made some dedications, 2 are dedicated to you (ATT8 and ATT19) with a link to Fontstruct. I also made a bunch of beautiful samples. 14 more fonts are on the rails to be added in the next 3 weeks i think. Thanks again for what you wrote!

This is the sickest font I've seen on this site so far. Very well done. I see some graffiti influence in these letters. Thanks for sharing.
