{"id":2963,"date":"2017-06-02T04:43:32","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T11:43:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/?p=2963"},"modified":"2017-11-09T01:24:53","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T08:24:53","slug":"connecting-bricks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/2017\/06\/02\/connecting-bricks\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting Bricks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear FontStructors,<\/p>\n<p>Today we&#8217;re introducing a couple of\u00a0enhancements to the FontStructor editor.<\/p>\n<h3>New \u201cConnecting\u201d Brick Pack<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/connecting-bricks1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2965\" src=\"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/connecting-bricks1.png\" alt=\"connecting-bricks1\" width=\"700\" height=\"432\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Firstly, we\u2019re adding 58 new bricks to FontStruct.<\/p>\n<p>As the\u00a0number of available bricks has increased over the years, and with the addition of these new bricks, we&#8217;ve decided to break up the \u201cAll Bricks\u201d palette into\u00a0multiple\u00a0pages or \u201cpacks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll Bricks\u201d is now named simply \u201cBricks\u201d and the currently selected pack is shown in the palette title. Just click on the down arrow to switch packs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/connecting-bricks-palette.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2966\" src=\"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/connecting-bricks-palette.png\" alt=\"connecting-bricks-palette\" width=\"700\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The classic, core bricks will be remain in the default \u201cCore\u201d pack, but now you also have access to the new \u201cConnecting\u201d pack.<\/p>\n<p>The connecting pack includes monoline, biline and triline shapes, curves, lengths, terminals and miscellaneous connectors,\u00a0which join\u00a0perfectly and easily with one another. It\u2019s a fun and novel FontStructing experience.<\/p>\n<p>Note that in order for the junctions between these new bricks\u00a0to match, the connecting points need to be centred within each grid square, so a small gap always remains, to the left and below your designs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/nudge-connected.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2968\" src=\"https:\/\/fontstruct.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/nudge-connected.png\" alt=\"nudge-connected\" width=\"700\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To compensate for this you can use the nudge tool (expert mode) to nudge your glyphs, so that they\u00a0line up with the origin.<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to seeing what our community can create with these new raw materials. We may add a few more bricks to the connecting pack in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<h3>No more default \u201cCycle\u201d pen<\/h3>\n<p>This has been a very long time coming I know.
