Happy new year FontStructors!<\/h3>\n

As promised in our last post, we’re\u00a0starting the new year with a new competition, this time with an amorous theme in time for Valentine’s day.<\/p>\n

For the new FontStruct competition we’d like you to design a FontStruction on the theme of \u201cLove\u201d. You can interpret the theme as broadly as you’d like, as long as you can somehow\u00a0relate it to the word \u201cLove\u201d. You could explore the iconography of love, design the perfect modular font for a Valentine’s card, or explore an associated abstraction (peace, friendship, animosity\u00a0\u2026). You can be literal, but don’t need to be. Keep it decent though please!<\/p>\n

Remember to tag your entry with \u201cLovecomp<\/strong>\u201d before the 6th\u00a0of February\u00a0and don’t forget to upload a sample image.<\/p>\n

Before starting, please read the rules below carefully, even if you are a frequent FontStructor.<\/p>\n

Competition Time Period<\/h3>\n

Wednesday, Thursday\u00a07th 2016 \u2013 February\u00a06th, 2016<\/span><\/p>\n

Competition Rules<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. You must be a registered FontStruct user.<\/li>\n
  2. Your submission(s) must be posted and made \u201cpublic\u201d between 7th January and\u00a06th\u00a0February 2016. Although you are encouraged to share your submission(s) at any time between these dates, your FontStruction submission(s) must be public (marked \u201cshare with everyone\u201d) no later than February 6th\u00a0at 11pm PST. Additionally, your submission(s) must remain public until February 14th 2016 in order to give the judges enough time to review all qualifying entries.<\/li>\n
  3. Your submission(s) must be tagged with a \u201cLovecomp\u201d tag. (For fairness, during the competition time period, no FontStruction with the \u201cLovecomp\u201d tag will be awarded a Top Pick.)<\/li>\n
  4. Your submission(s) must be downloadable. If your FontStruction cannot be downloaded, the submission will be disqualified.<\/li>\n
  5. Your submission must be a newly published FontStruction. Simply adding the \u201cLovecomp\u201d tag to an already published font is not allowed.<\/li>\n
  6. For each submission, you must post at least one sample image in the comments of the FontStruction.<\/li>\n
  7. No letters in each submission can be MORE THAN 48 bricks high.<\/li>\n
  8. FontStruct cloning is permitted but the judges will be looking for original work.<\/li>\n
  9. You may enter up to three FontStructions to the competition.<\/li>\n
  10. This is a friendly competition. Cheering, favoriting and fun banter is encouraged but cruel and uncivil behavior will not be tolerated.<\/li>\n
  11. No rules regarding licensing. You may choose any license you like for your FontStruction.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Judging and announcing the winners<\/h3>\n

    All qualifying FontStructions will by judged by the FontStruct staff and guest judges, February\u00a06th\u201311th. Three prizewinners will be chosen. One of these will be the FontStructors\u2019 Favorite. Winners will be announced in a FontStruct Blog post on February\u00a012th.<\/p>\n

    Prizes<\/h3>\n

    Each winner can choose either\u00a0a)\u00a0a t-shirt printed with a FontStruction glyph of their choice OR<\/strong> b) a\u00a0signed and numbered copy of the\u00a0FontStruct poster<\/a><\/p>\n

    FontStructors’ Favorite<\/h3>\n

    The valid entry with the greatest number of\u00a0legitimate\u00a0favorites at 11pm PST on February\u00a011th, 2016 will be one of the three prizewinners.<\/p>\n
