This is an unofficial forum I have made for FontStruct tutorials and educational materials. Want to know how to do something, or how to make a certain style or effect? This is the place to ask. I am not part of staff, and am far from being the most advanced user on here, but will pass on whatever I can.
I have been writing an FS video series for some time, but it has proven very time-consuming to make the series as comprehensive (and as high-quality) as I would like. It has also occurred to me that I can teach a lot through simple text and graphics. This is my attempt to create a knowledge hub for FS where all the good stuff is in one place. If you make a tutorial or expand on mine in some way, you're welcome to post those here as well.
Please keep the discussion topical. This page is about tutorials, requests and discussions for them, etc. Idea Soup is more of a free-for-all and anything FS-related is accepted there. Idea Soup is also a good place to discuss tutorial ideas, since we can work out exactly what needs to be taught there without clogging the comment section here. (There is a limit on the number of comments this page can have, right?)
This page is open to users of all languages, but we may have to use Google Translate to answer you. Sorry in advance for any bad translations :D

I add new art to this whenever I get more ideas. But I don't want the legend to be any longer than it is, so I leave the others for you to discover on your own.
Font made for the logo of a particular project/video game of mine.
Some kerning pairs are imperfect... I can only bring them 10 bricks closer together, so a bit of space remains...

SPOOKY GHOST FONT. A work in progress. Getting the right spooky apparition look is pretty intensive, but I managed to finish the basic character set before Halloween. :D

This started as a 5x5 design. After realizing S and Z would look far better if I made them 1 square taller, I converted the whole font to be roughly 5x6. At this low resolution, it's hard to get the degree of irregularity which I think makes these letters look ghostly... but, the idea is certainly present!
This design seems like it'd fit in with a lot of horror and science fiction stuff, too. Apart from the "smoky"/"ghostly" look, it has a "melted" one which suggests a hot place or maybe immersion in acid. It also looks a bit like slime, and finally at smaller sizes it has a glitch-esque appearance.
Pixel prototype of a font for an upcoming game being developed by yours truly. This will likely be used, but only for flashbacks and dreams. The normal ingame font may be a high-res version of this, or something different - tests are still being done to determine this.
English only for now, as there are no plans to localize the game myself.
"Madufaros" = "daughter of Madu".

A place to post your FS-related ideas.
The more I use FS, the more I generate ideas. Some of them don't get published, and some of them are useful enough to pass on. This page is a home for those kinds of ideas. I'll probably be posting FS art and alternative glyph designs here... you may post whatever you like, as long as it's FS-related.

[beta 1.7c] More CJK, Aboriginal Canadian Syllabics, Bengali
[beta 1.7b] More CJK but still not nearly enough
[beta 1.7a] I found a stray pixel which stretched the font two pixels too high. It's gone now.
[beta 1.7] ??? stuff? korean jamo, like 0.3% more of the CJK, Greek Extended, and one of the East Asian scripts (the name I forgot :<)
[beta 1.6d] assorted CJK and symbols
[beta 1.6c] devanagari (hindi script), thai
[beta 1.6b] thai and other junks. some characters improved
By request, "a font that looks like a hybrid of Greek and Latin".
This is designed to be modular. UPPER CASE contains the standard glyphs. Alternates are on the lowercase as well as the More Latin band.
"Novus Graecorum" means "The New Greek".
Supports Dutch, English, and Greek!
I attempted a blackletter style without any knowledge or references. The result reminds me of a vampire's writing!
The name "Dethzmezenger / Death's Messenger" comes from one of many old joke bands which I created.

Another doodle... Well, shall I continue this one?
I sort of designed myself into a corner with the uppercase, by not using the same grid size as the lowercase. But, this choice led to an interesting and unique look so I'll keep it.
A vertical take on Morse code. These glyphs are read left-to-right from the bottom up and spaced so that 1 pixel = 1 unit of time, whether moving horizontally or vertically. Letters have 3 spaces between them and words have 7 spaces.
The result is a concise design that can easily be fed to tone-generation or image-to-audio software (e.g., AudioPaint) to produce accurately encoded & timed Morse code, no matter the frequency (speed) of the transmission. You can use this principle to create and place messages into music or games, make messages match a tempo or beat, arpeggiate words and turn them into music or sound effects, and much more.
The name is a pun. :P
*
21NOV2018: I've recently learned that many radio stations use an expanded version of the International Morse Code, adding many symbols and punctuation to it. Though these new glyphs are not part of the standard, they are commonly used and agreed on, so I will keep adding them as I find them.

Another of Dr. Zeph's* mad experiments! This is an Alien Latin Groovy Minimalist Thingamabob with numerous unique forms of dyslexia-inducing ambiguity. It reads surprisingly well at small size!

An extension of ideas present in "Gehenna".
Experimental mosaic... or maybe a new mineral species?
This one started as a doodle. I began placing circles to see what kinds of complex shapes I could make, and this was the result.
It achieves a new visual effect at almost every size up to the original. Also try slowly moving the zoom slider for some interesting animations!
*
This font is now nearly 1MB in size! I guess it has to do with the intrinsic complexity of circles.
10x10 fantasy- and RPG-related icons. The bigger they are, the better they look!
This is finished! I'm happy to hear out and possibly implement others' suggestions, though.

Public transport & travel related icons. Most of these are designed to leave room above/below themselves for text while still fitting into a square canvas. So, they can more easily be used to create actual program icons, signs, etc.

A 2x2 design which started with a "split" aesthetic and ended up with a "stenciled" one. I embraced the change and now all these glyphs are functional as stencils. They contain minimal stacking and no composites.
In some cases the inside is connected to the outside at only one point. If you decide to use this for stencilling, I recommend using a stout material for the stencil and storing it with care.
The name comes from one of the many, many old joke bands which I created.
Recommended: Use with kerning turned on!
