This is my first attempt at designing a typeface, it was inspired by 1950's typefaces but the main influence comes from script handwriting.

Built around the theme of Decay, the main meaning behind this font is representation of Architectural Decay. The tight kerning and thin widths of each letter are to show the height of buildings when put together in skylines. The mixture of serif and sans serif letters are used as examples of both traditional and modern day architecture being brought together in the same space, although how despite the age differences, both old and new are prone to decay like everything else.

This is a glyph I use to write to a friend and vice-versa. She and I are able to read it fluently.

The typeface was created with influence from fonts used on circus posters, I wanted it to come across as quite flamboyant with a sleek, more modern undertone which I think I have achieved with the thin vertical lines. Following my ‘ornate’ theme I also wanted to keep each letter very attractive making each letter look like an ornament but also if used a full body text still holds this ornamental theme.
