A Font that pays homage to early 16th Century Gothic design in both Literature and Architecture. The sharp angles and jagged edges depict the ideas of the era and the pioneers of this time - bringing that into a modern representation with a serif style and italic Fontstruct.
this is my art deco railing font. I was given the theme 'protect' and thought to link it to railings as they protect people. I really like the art deco art styles and was inspired by this to make the font. I took the key elements from research of art deco railongs e.g curves and spikes and took this into my font.
This is a cloneMy font is based on the Ministry of Transportation building in Georgia. The building itself is inspired by Japanese Metabolism architecture. Which is a moventment inspired by growth and adapabilty. I wanted my font to feel as though you could stack and change it just like Metabolism architecture.
my typeface is based off of the 'instability' of our future in relation to the water crisis. The depletion of freshwater affects every continent, especially countries with lacking sanitation. This typeface is meant to look like the highlights, shadows and reflections in water if they were incapsulated in a font.
My fontstruction inspired by building structures, each letters ascenders and descenders inspired me to shape each letter in their individual way. I tried to include different aspects of what you see in buildings throughout the alphabet like stairs, windows, doors, roofs etc.
My chosen theme name was systematic and I followed that theme through to my style of type face by how buildings and structures are systematic, they work together as a big system and fit into a city.
Inspired by the initial word ‘filth’ Microbe explores the disgusting growths and bacteria in my flat. It has taken heavy influence from the various gunge found within my blocked sink. I have attempted to communicate the oily bubbles and stains from within the sink as the main body of the letters.
The theme for this typeface is the word 'Filthy'. The letterform's structures are based on dust and the way it separates when a finger is dragged through it. Dust collects on objects that have been untouched for periods of time, often through neglect. The use of negative space and lack of border draws attention to the dot-work dust that forms around the accents of the letters. As a finger cleans dust, larger piles form where there is a change in direction. This helps identify the individual characters whilst keeping a minimalistic approach. This font can be used for headings and posters, or shop designs and logos. I have always felt this font would go well on a burger shack to help give a rustic or edgy look.
This font is based on the word messy. Inspiration comes from paper being torn into small pieces, and the moment of chaos when work goes wrong and paper is ripped out of a sketchbook. The gradients are also not accurate in order to vaguely represent how shadows form on crumpled paper. The font was drawn freehand to begin and is designed to be used decoratively for headers. This font could be used for an art club poster.
This is a cloneThis geometric font was built up from the theme of a continuous typeface. After developing sketched ideas and experimenting on fontsrtuct I became aware or a continuous theme throughout my font design of continuous lines and geometric shapes. This led me to research type designers and artists such as El Lissitsky's use of shapes to portray political messages, Herbert Bayer's rounded font style, Paul Renner's original architype fonts's unusual abstract designs and finally Matt W Moore's modern geometric typefaces which heavily influenced my designs. This can be seen through the abstract use of shapes inspired by El Lissitsky which can be seen in the letter M, H and V. Aspects of Matt W Moore can also be seen in my designs from his Alphafont 2 and 3 on the use of lines for the letters M, H and Z, and his use of shapes which are seen in the letters A and V. With inspiration coming from a range of times, artists and typographers this gives the font a feel of old and new. As it looks like it could be inscriptions on tombs and pyramids but also has a futuristic sci-fi appearance. Therefore the use of this font could be used for film posters and books of a setting in the future or ancient Egyptian or Greek past.
