Logical evolution of zolid02, less experimental and more readable, complete and compact.
This is a clone of zolid02 eYe/FSSbB Directorate is my typographic ode to science fiction bureaucracy. Directorate is named for the government in the TV “classic” Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. From the Alliance in Firefly to the Federation in Star Trek, the bureaucratic government is a theme through science fiction, and I always imagined they’d have a typeface like this…
Espaniranto is a transitional "lost link" conscript between Latin and the "future" Desertborn Language conscripts like "Wadi Emet" and "Seeq Antique" from the planet Araxes at the Mu Draconis System http://slurl.com/secondlife/Splintered%20Rock/55/4/55 (A Second Life Sci-Fi RPG sim/server cluster ). It covers most of the basic latin script(english), some extended glyphs to write Esperanto(ĉ, ĝ, ĥ, ĵ, ŝ, ŭ) and Spanish(ñ) but without accents and with basic limited extra glyph support besides the alphabet. In accordance with Desertborn scholar Taquis Samiirah Sorciere from House Morloch, Desertborn culture has it's roots mostly out from earth-that-was Berber culture, so maybe the Desertborn scripts evolved through millennia from a common branch of pidgin alphabets of hybridized Latin, Tifinagh scripts, Berber Latin, and unknown space-farer scripts resembling the one at the "Singapore Stone". Espaniranto is highly regarded as the possible common Latin script ancestor. The numerals are binary coded glyphs and naturaly suitable to be used in base-12(ø being number 10 and Ø being 11). Yet is highly compatible with the common base-10 numeral system in the Empire. Desertborn culture is highly regarded as possessing superior engineering and for their creative technological solutions in contrast to the common starborn ways. Some other odd influences notorious in Espaniranto are: -It's peculiar punctuation that somehow resemble the Himalayan conventions of Tibeto-burmese or mongolian scripts like phagspa, uchen/umê, and newa scripts. -It's "unicase" nature as in such scripts. A more solid link to the eurasian plateaus mysticism had been provided in the only especimen of Espaniranto writing being a XXIII'rd century treatise/manual on mysticism, the so called Lagrangian-Point Dzogchen-Zen-Sufi codex, a specimen with plenty of common mystic terminology between Persiand and Tibetan plateaus mysticism, but fully wrote in Classical Zamenhof's Esperanto. The lack of any ascender and descender in the Espaniranto script and it's awful readability supports the idea of it being mostly a religious script in opposition to daily use. This is a cloneInspired by the RoboCop movie logos -- Solid Version. Now includes full character set. For outline version, see the upgraded "Alex Murphy Outline" font; for dingbats of OCP logos, see the "Alex Murphy Dings" font. Type "RoboCop" into the View-User Input option to try it out!
July 31, 2021 update: Version 2.0. Diagonals and lowercase crossbars were thickened, and diagonals now cross into the vertical strokes. Now more movie accurate than ever!
This is a cloneWhat would futuristic type design be without ridiculously wide letters?
Also looks great at narrower widths down to 50%.
(2nd entry to #FutureComp)
This is a cloneGuess what movie I just watched again? A mostly accurate font inspired by the movie "Total Recall" (1990). Consider it an experiment in using the 2x vertical filter.
**2017 08-13 Update** Taking advantage of the expanded brick-stacking minimums, I have modified the following glyphs: A a R r S s Z z 2 7 ? _ +
The diagonal leg of the R is still not quite correct; further attempts might be made in the future.
I have also removed the 2x vertical filtering. We are back to good old 1x filtering now.
Welcome to the Future...
Dramatics aside, QUANTUM is a visual display typeface designed to convey one cyberpunk future out of many.
It is intended to be built as a monospaced font (however, spacing errors occurred, and it is a faux-monospace as a result), made on a 9x10 pixel grid out of a personal fascination with the vision of the cyberpunk future according to the 90s and a desire to capture the "spirit" of the original Sony PlayStation. One of the leading sources of inspiration is the work by The Designers Republic (tDR).
This typeface not only features Latin characters, but also Cyrillic, Greek, and even a few Coptic characters for good measure (in hopes of easing in the old world into the future)
