This a cool project I am working on where all the characters are made in a 3 by 3 grid! I'm not finished, so I'll add accents and Greek and Russian to it! Of course, the accents are gonna have to be 3 by 5, but the LETTERS are 3 by 3!

Fat logo type, based on a 3x3 matrix. Definitely not a beauty.

After Spaceman and Little Spaceman, things get even smaller: here's an attempt to create a font based on 3x3 grid but still legible. Uppercase, numbers and basic punctation only.

Original FS logo is much better imo, but this one would be well too. Based on this one:

Edit:
I hope nobody had created something like this before my one!

There are far too many 3x3 pixel fonts that aren't actually true 3x3, or are not readable at 1px per block. So here is a proper 3x3 pixel font created for the Merveilles Portable MMO made by ika.

Another experiment in minimalism. This time inspired by NeuroneError's Mazemoneurone, Bismuth's Mazemone and TG Studios' Alien Fixed.
But instead of making very unconventional and beautiful shapes as they did, I went for quantity (as always). I think this is as far as I can get, which means diacritics will have to be written seperately from their letters.

This is my smallest font ever, 3x3 pixels. Not all glyphs are legible, but most are... Some glyphs are more legible than others.
Also see my slightly bigger font, Tin4 which is a 4x3 font.
This font is somewhat similar to the PhoneStruct font by meek, some glyphs are the same while others are different. My version has more glyphs...
This font is also somewhat similar to the Femto 3x3 by Frodo7, a font I found after publishing this font. I guess there isn't that many possibilities when only having a 3 by 3 area to fonstruct on. The A. D. E. F. H, I, K, O, P, R, S, T, U, V, X, Z, 0 glyphs seems to be the same.
This is probably the smallest pixel font that's possible to make (w/o the use of half pixels or smaller pixels), while still being somewhat legible.

The Resolution font is designed as a conceptual piece of work, complementing my research in the cognitive and graphic aspects of type. I began working with this form in the summer of 2011 by creating the symbols which would fit into a certain matrix and consist of as little square pixels as possible, thus approaching the conceptual and peceptual boundaries of legibility. After Resolution 3x4 I went further and designed Resolution 3x3, which is even more closer to the limit of legibility than 3x4.
There is an important aspect in such minimalistic and conceptual approach–-it is the similarity of these types with the weaving patterns, which can be traced back to many archaic European cultures. The Resolution font makes a tribute to these original, pre-alphabetic systems of information encoding through weaving patterns.
At the same time Resolution font is made to emphasize the importance of square pixel as a structural and conceptual limit of digital reality, which comes to an end when a certain resolution is reached. It applies both to visual encoding of information (with pixel as a graphic building block) and the structure of information proper (the true-false logic). Instead of creating the illusion of continuity, Resolution font is about being aware of the media and digital (and thus quantized) nature of an image which is falsely perceived as continuous.

Freaking small (3x3) font. It was made so that it can be transmitted like easy to learn morse code by scanning those few pixels from top left to bottom right and sending dots or dashes depending on the pixel color.

Typeco New Wave makes use only 4 shapes and the gestalt principals of closure and reification to give the illusion of the shape of each glyph. New Wave is a fun Op art font that would be amusing to use for titles and logos, especially for retro 80's graphic design. This is a clone

'Microstruct' is my attempt at FontStructing the VERY FIRST fontstruct logo. 3x3 grid size, and an experiment with the new bricks (OK, I guess I'm a little too late now).
What did it look like? Type 'FONTSTRUCT' in the box to see what!

3x3 pixel font with upper case, lower case, numbers, punctuation and no duplicates. Wait, some duplicates in punctuation: parentheses = angle citation marks and comma = low 9-shaped quotation mark.
