Recreation of the large pixel font Zippo Games/Rare/Acclaim's "Wizards & Warriors III: Kuros: Visions of Power" (1992).
Note that the "&" character is wider than 8px - in the game, it uses 4 separate 8×8 tiles. In this recreation, the character width is nonetheless set to 8px, with the ampersand overlapping the following letter (usually, a space character) by one pixel.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Presenting Capcom's Makai Island (aka. Higemaru Makaijima), released in 1987. This font is a stenciled version of Bionic Commando (Arcade), created by Patrick H. Lauke and The Real Mighty Guru, and this game was released for the NES, as a prototype. This font is similar to Bionic Commando.
This is a clone of Bionic CommandoPresenting Nintendo's Clu Clu Land (aka. Vs. Clu Clu Land/Welcome to the New Clu Clu Land), released in 1984 for the NES, FDS and Arcade and 1988 for the FDS. This font is similar to Donkey Kong Classics. This font is part of Nintendoid. and This game is a part of Animal crossing, which was titled (Clu Clu Land D, aka. Clu Clu Land Disk).
This is a clone of Donkey Kong Classics (NES) (Extended)Presenting Taito and Home Data's Tetrastar: The Fighter, released in 1991.
Presenting Capcom's Mega Man 3 (aka. Rockman 3: Dr. Wily no Saigo?!), released in 1990. This font is not similar to Mega Man 3+4, but it is similar. This was based on Mega Man Series.
This is a clone of Mega Man 3+4Without doubt, this typeface is re-created from the NES release of "Pac-Man Championship Edition", and the game was officially published in 2020 as a Japanese release. Rumor has it that the game used to be a fan game as well, but for my part, this isn't the point.
The small letters "i" and "j" have been adjusted, so that they will look more accurate in terms of typeface design.
By the way, the design of the small letter "g" has been adjusted as well, because it's not until today that I could obtain the "Eat all fruit targets" achievement in this game, and that I could see the real appearance of the small letter "g" (see the below comment I have just posted). Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this!
Recreation of the 6px pixel font used in Nintendo's "Super Mario Kart" (1992) on the SNES. In the game, the font has a 2px spacing to account for the outline. In this recreation, I opted to just go for a 1px spacing - if you do use it outlined, make sure to add the extra pixel for authenticity.
Update Sept. 2019: added ":" and "," and fixed incorrect "Q", "V", "(" and ")"
Recreation of the pixel font from Nintendo's "Donkey Kong Classics" (1988) on the NES, which combines the fonts from "Donkey Kong" (1981) and "Donkey Kong Jr." (1982).
The one distinctive feature of this font are the "G" and the exclamation mark. Note that in the original "Donkey Kong" (1981) the period/full stop and the ".," (mapped here to the ";") were one pixel higher than in the "Classics" version. In addition, this recreation includes the maths symbols ("+", "-", "×", "÷") from "Donkey Kong Jr. Math" (1983). "Donkey Kong Jr. Math" and "Donkey Kong 3" (1983) also used this same font, except they changed the "8".
Other than the additions of the maths symbols, only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
A recreation of the faux-italic pixel font from Konami's "Biker Mice from Mars" (1994) for the SNES. Only the characters found in the game are included.
Updated 05/2017 to add a few missing characters and fix existing one.
Updated 07/2017 because the ampersand was missing a pixel...
Recration of the pixel font from Advance Communication Company's infamous "Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1988) on the NES. As the set of characters is incomplete in the game's tile set, this recreation was expanded to include custom "Q", "X", "Z" and additional punctuation. Note the lowercase "r", used for the "Dr." on the game's title screen.
Recreation of the pixel font from Compile/Tonkin House/ASCII Corporation's "Gun-Nac" (1990) on the NES. Note the diamond character, used for menu/shop item selection, mapped to U+25C6. Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the main pixel font from Epyx's "California Games" (1987) on the NES. A fairly standard font, with a few interesting details in the "J", "5" and "7". Only the characters present in the game's tile set (plus an additional opening parenthesis) have been included.
Recreation of the primary pixel font from Sunsoft's "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" (1990) on the NES, used primarily in the shop sequences.
This font contains an almost complete set of hiragana and katakana characters. In the game's tileset, the dakuten and handakuten are separate tiles, and positioned in the line above the character they relate to. In this recreation, these characters are pre-combined into a single glyph.
Apart from these, only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
