A modular typeface built using a limited number of basic shapes. Need a condensed stencil typeface? Look no further! Little Tittle was created for those tight spaces. A condensed set width paired with short ascending and descending strokes allows for tight spacing vertically as well. Little Tittle is exclusively lowercase; however, it does have a stencil and solid version so you can mix and match styles for more typographic variety.

Our first project this year was to design a typeface based around a word of our choosing. I opted for ‘Pompous’, as it stood out to me from the list. During the project I visited Bristol Cathedral several times, and spent time in and around Bridgwater, looking at anything that I found to be pompous, such as cast-iron work and Baroque architecture. My final design is influenced by Gothic typefaces and raised lead tombstones/plaques. The name ‘Delectatio Morosa’ is Latin for peevish delight, which I discovered whilst looking at different Latin phrases.

I tried out a wide range of experimentation when it came to producing hand rendered work, as I felt I needed to work out what would best capture the general sense of the word.
I tried using inks on elastic bands, attaching pens to a playstation controller and drawing, photographing food colouring over a speaker; all sorts. Finally, I decided I needed something which really reflected the word clearly. I looked at the white noise and the trails that you get on the television, and applied this feel to a sans serif font I had made based on Georgia (minus the Serifs)
One of the most time comsuming things I've ever done, hope its been worth it.
Any comments welcome.

The whole concept of video games and computer programming is something we wouldnt have dreamt of being able to do hundreds of years ago. While Spinning the chain blurs and the chains dirt and grease effects the reflection of light. this is the effect i was trying to achieve. The idea for 'Cycles' started from the word 'repetition' i started looking at repeated motion and journeys that i regularly repeated. I take the same route everyday to university so i began by looking at my method of transport. the act of cycling itself is repetitive (Pedaling) and the angles of the cogs and chains were perfect for constructing letters.

My typeface is based on the word 'decay'. My letters take the form of teeth, these teeth have been decayed and have holes, cracks and rot on the actual tooth and roots.

I developed this typeface by researching and taking photographs of rotten and healthy teeth. I then traced and made sketches from them. I then distorted the shapes to make up my type.
This typeface could be really good for use in a dental industry for advertising against tooth decay or things like toothpaste etc..
