The design brief was to create a typeface using the key word; 'ornate'. I have taken heavy influence from gothic fonts and architecture, looking in particular at religion and religious texts. For more information please visit my website at http://wasteofpaper.co.uk/wordpress
I welcome all comments and constructive criticism, thank you :)

Here's "VUVUZELA"
A typeface inspired by the continent of africa, but mainly by the WorldCup of soccer 2010 in South Africa!
To catch on of the strongest associations for me relating to africa, i chose black and white stripes, maybe to remind of zebras or other animal patterns. But the effect also stands for the "swoosh" of a ball flyin by, for just the the "sporty" feel i wanted it to have.
Enjoy it.

There's an alternative "a" on "="
cheers kix

The lines are interesting to see. The lines form longer loops. With few loops interesting patterns can be formed. Sometimes a single line can compose a kolam. Decoration is not the sole purpose of kolam. Traditionally kolam is drawn with dry rice powder. And it is said to invite other small creatures to eat it. Everyday a new kolam is drawn.

I tried out a wide range of experimentation when it came to producing hand rendered work, as I felt I needed to work out what would best capture the general sense of the word.
I tried using inks on elastic bands, attaching pens to a playstation controller and drawing, photographing food colouring over a speaker; all sorts. Finally, I decided I needed something which really reflected the word clearly. I looked at the white noise and the trails that you get on the television, and applied this feel to a sans serif font I had made based on Georgia (minus the Serifs)
One of the most time comsuming things I've ever done, hope its been worth it.
Any comments welcome.

Initially to me chaos meant incoherent mess, but after looking at chaos theory i began looking at ways to order chaos. To show this in my font I have used a regimented typeface with repeated ideas of thick and thin lines, but juxtaposed this restriction by forming the letters with chaotic scribbles.

In contrast to Renovare S1, a thickening of the serif makes way for efficient curved brick usage leading to a smoother and more natural slabtastic appearance.

Revamped from a corrupted version of Renovare S1 and may suffer from the same instability. Handle with care. Downloaded normally for me. Please let me know if there are any problems. Thx.
