Activision's "Predator" (1987) on the NES is generally regarded as a dreadful game...but the pixel font used in the start screen and the story intro (but not in the game itself) is an interesting variation of the more standard Nintendoid font. In particular, the lowercase, custom numbers and the sexy ampersand are worth pointing out here. A few minor tweaks have been applied to the quotes and punctuation, to more easily make it fit with the overall rhythm of the letters.
EDIT (August 2019): fixed the incorrect "Q" (which came from the in-game font) and changed quotes and punctuation back to their original (slightly unbalanced) look for accuracy. The only small concession I made is to move the numbers by one pixel to the right to make them work better when paired with letters.
This is a clone of Nintendoid 1a custom variant of the pixel font used in konami's "batman returns" (1993) on the SNES, modified from monospaced to proportional while trying to maintain the quirky ligatures built into the monospaced original. this version expands (and tweaks) the punctuation characters present in the actual game's tile set.
This is a clone of Batman Returns SNES"This is Solid Snake. Respond, please." Recreation of the font from Konami's classic "Metal Gear" (1987) on the NES. Only the characters used in the game (and present in the ROM) have been included - if you need some missing special character, I'd suggest combining it with my Nintendoid 1 or 2.
Update 4/5/2018: fixed code point for the quotes and double exclamation mark; added the carriage return, box drawing elements and copyright symbol; removed the incorrect em-dash and vertical pipe.
Another favorite computer RPG: Old English font from Betrayal In Antara, (C) 1997 Sierra On-Line. Sierra Resource File Tags: "8.fon" ; "501.fon" ; "4210.fon". Kerning is from "501.fon", which appears to be only found in Betrayal In Antara. Numerals (except 3 & 8) are from "4210.fon", found in Torin's Passage, (C) 1995 Sierra On-Line. Numerals 3 & 8 are designed by Goatmeal.
based on a 3×7 grid, this just skirts the edge of illegibility. originally posted 26/08/2004 http://www.splintered.co.uk/experiments/50/
This is a clone of 3x7 pixelsAn experimental 3-D/geometric font, inspired by Mynameiscapo's "Metal Hammer [beta]". My first attempt was "InTrude"; I tried to make it look like it's coming right out of the screen or off of the page, but it wasn't what I was looking for. After retooling it, here is the result: it works! See all fonts: "Backtrude", "OneQuarterTrude", "OneQuarterTrude Inverse", "MidTrude", "ThreeQuarterTrude", "ThreeQuarterTrude Inverse", "ExTrude", "InTrude", and "FrontTrude"
Based on a typeface which was used in the opening credits of The Terminator, The Running Man, Class of 1999, and also used on Robert A. Heinlein's book covers (there's a font called Heinlein which is similar). I've been looking for the original for a long time but haven't found it, so I recreated it myself. (Edit: apparently it's called Bessellen)
Now updated to be closer to the original, plus added kerning.
