The result: a technical, friendly, modern slab serif design demonstrating further potential of the stackable composite function.

Please enjoy a private clone to see how I dealt with contrast, curves, bracketing, variable letter width and the difficult-to-achieve emboldening of the capitals’ vertical strokes within a minimal fontstruct matrix (and If you like what you see, please download for personal usage and vote kindly! :)

Intaglio’s amazing recent work makes similar strides (see the excellent rounds, for example), offering a solution before me to several of these long-standing impasses of the medium.

More characters to come... :)

The lines are interesting to see. The lines form longer loops. With few loops interesting patterns can be formed. Sometimes a single line can compose a kolam. Decoration is not the sole purpose of kolam. Traditionally kolam is drawn with dry rice powder. And it is said to invite other small creatures to eat it. Everyday a new kolam is drawn.

A great excuse to build a Halo related fontstruction. This one was inspired by two <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_3">Halo 3 multi-player game maps featuring Spartan related technology: Citadel and Guardian. The patterned techno-motif textures on the architecture in these maps are impressively adorned everywhere. It's hard not to be inspired. The design just came about after messing around with some shapes yesterday. The alternates in the lowercase are actually the first iteration of the design, updates are in the uppercase.

Dedicated to my son who introduced me to the amazing Halo universe and encourages my love-hate relationship with the XBox360. He kills me. It's what he does.

Cleofe's husband, a CHP officer, was driving and their teen daughter was along for the ride. While on the freeway, the accelerator became stuck and they lost control of the car. As the runaway vehicle sped up to over 100 mph, all four passengers were killed in a fiery crash in the San Diego River. The loss was unquantifiably devastating. This immensely tragic event led my aunt to testify before congress with damning evidence that would initiate the recall of millions of Toyota vehicles.

Requiemme Decorum was created on the way down to southern California for the funeral services. For Chris, Cleofe, Mark, and Mahala, may you all rest in peace and love.
