The letters are structured equal in width and length and are all designed in capital. The graphic elements both inside and outside the typeface enhance a "technologically programmed" (pixelated) feel to the overall font.

THEME: PROTECT

INSPIRATION: PRISONS

With the font I researched and looked into Gaul where the structure had minimal spaces, solid walls and in the 1700's the prison architecture included a panoptical view where by the guard had a view of all prison cells.
This inspired me to create a font based on the Panoptical aspect of prisons and how it would be adapted in the future prison architecture.

I included slanted parts in the font cutting across to represent the view of the guard ( panoptican view ). The font comprises of thick and thin walls representing the concept of a prison with thick walls and the prison bars. Combining these aspects the font has a feeling of solidity and uniformity.

The foundations of this font were built around the word "PROTECT" I looked at protecting objects which is where I got bubblewrap from. As part of my initial research I printed with bubblewrap and the results I got were amazing because it wasn't perfect, some bubbles had been popped leaving me with a more unique print. I tried to capture that element in this font.

This typeface represents the change in lettering overtime, can be interpreted with the bold layer representing more minimalistic and professional modern lettering and the thin lines being more rough lines inspired by cave carvings. I took an abstract aproach to adding shade in certain areas the letters are cut which made the typeface look quite geometric at first glance.
