Opening day of Marvel's Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever!
I started this late and suffered the consequences, but had to release something. This took a long time and didn't look like how I wanted it to or as good as I wanted it to, but there it is. WIP as I attempt to clean up and adust stuff.
This is a tribute reworking of an experimental design of Rod Cavazos of PsyOps Type foundry. His Spanner font design from 1995 has always been a favorite of mine with its unexpected curves and serifs, making it similar to a Picasso portrait with letters. This fonstructivized version was a test to see if it would be possible to make an accurate reproduction. The answer was 'sort of.'
Decoreus. I love this one, which usually means nobody is going to like it. Thanks beate for coming up with the 20's theme for the TwentiesComp. I don't think I would have come up with this otherwise.
A font formed out of Truchet Tiles.
Truchet tiles are formed by taking a single tile composed of opposing quarter circles, then applying its inverse in a random fashion. Here, I've inverted the tiles to create outlines, then developed the negative aspects of the letters, thus creating a reversal of a reversal of a reversal! Boom! Now you're in the third dream level of Inception.
This is a clone011616. Oops. This one was supposed to be released when it was created. Somehow it got lost. Anyway, it was an experiment with smoothed out diagonals, which was difficult before the brick nudging feature. Now it its easy. So more improvments added. Here was my original text in 2010. Old links were broken, I can't add links anymore...?
-----
Created from scratch, but inspired by will.i.ૐ's WPA Go Thin, which was inspired by Stewf's WPA Gothic. Not as much an in depth character study as William's, but delving deeper into the concept of smoothing out all hard edged corners, especially the transitional connections between all diagonal lines to their horizontal or vertical counterparts. This direction forced me to dig deep to figure out if it was possible to create a smoothly ramped curve. After chiseling out multitudinous variations of composite combinations, I came up with this solution. Then I pat myself of the back and gave myself a cookie. The technique is also employed on my Escapade, and Streamlyne fonts. As usual, I like to leave these techniques as Easter eggs for everyone to discover for themselves using their own creativity. Sometimes its inspiring just to know such a thing is possible. But let me know if you can't figure it out. Press Shift+PXL on the preview to zoom in and check it out.
This is a cloneKollarbo. Derived from "collarbone," except spelled with a 'K' with the last consonant taken off, which parallels the Klavika font, which sounds like "clavicle," except spelled with a 'K' with the last consonant taken off, parallelling even further because "collarbone" is synonymous with "clavicle." So clever. So, so clever.
Kerning coming soon. maybe. but at least the rest of the diacritics.

This is a cloneShazamurai! Opening day of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Almost missed this one, but had an old lightning based font that matched. Plus, AI graphics is like soooo much cheating. WIP, couldn't decide on spacing so kerning had to wait.
This is a cloneIn 1981, Konami introduced the worlds first side scrolling shooter video game, called Scramble. This game took many quarters from me as it was a regular stop walking home from school to play. It had forced scrolling from right to left with a fighter jet infiltrating harsh terrain and enemy bases. In 1987, the company Irem produced R-Type - a side scroller with heavy graphics that was like Scramble on Steroids. The fighter crafts had different weapon capabilities that could be upgraded. Originally, the "R" series of spacecrafts stood for "Ray," like ray gun. RayType Alpha represents a time in between Scramble and R-Type, with RayType Alpha representing the first alpha version of the series. In my game, each letter becomes a chamber in the enemy's giant spacecraft environment. The spaceship must fly through each chamber, shooting down turrets and projectiles, while collecting powerups dispersed on specific locations of only certain letters. Like StepWyze, This is also an actual game (proof of concept only) that is unfinished, but I will post a link as soon as I have enough playable elements coded in. This font is heavily packed, maximizing the GameComp-required 48 grid spaces. 12.02.14 Game Uploaded!
This is a cloneRemember that time in the future, when those mean, hyper-aggressive, sarcastic aliens tried to take over the planet? Those guys were jerks. But I did like the font that they used to communicate with us measly humans. Alternate extraterrestrial realities are the future.
This is a cloneSpacero. It is a fontstructed remake of the Linotype Spacera font with an augmented lowercase set and hexagonal serifs all around. Just looked at the creation date, and saw that this has been just sitting around for over a decade. Where did the time go?
