This san serif, textured, bold font is inspired by the old cast iron type on train carts. When I discovered the old train carts down at the 'Bristol Harbour Railway' I was fascinated by these incredible forms. To create the structure of these characters I worked from one of the rubbings I took of a particularly nice iron plate and then scanned it into the computer to replicate the letters which where missing. An improvement of the former (Headless/Tangle, now called Tangled Hairline); This version is bolder and simpler with more striking 'chaos motion' lines. This is my first FontStruction while currently studying graphic design at Bristol UWE. Lots of experimentation solely using paints; quick hand movements and flicks to produce a messy, unrefined effect. Working in less than 1 second for each letter (with real paints), used as reference. the DOT experience continues... It gives you an unexpected kind of FREEDOM creating lines with dots. This time i doubled the resolution by using 2x2 circles. Finally your eye can help making curves of any size look complete and entirely smooth! Oh my god... I see more possibilities now than ever before!!
