Inspired by the works of geneus1 (especially Calligraphique). I tried to go for sort of a mixture of black letter, chancery, and heavy metal. I love the way the & turned out (combining the E and t. For those of you who don't know, the ampersand is based off of the Latin word for "and", et), and especially the K and J. By far, this is the best FontStruction I have ever, ever, EVER, EVER made. And probably ever will make.

This is a awesome font! I'm happy I found it and will be able to use it! Thank you very much!

It's awesome. :-D

The bricks fit as if they were always there. Like revealing a beautiful statue in a hunk of marble.

Bravo.

@minimum: Thank you! Actually, it took a lot of effort to accomplish this affect. Here's the K (highlighted so you can see the way I put the bricks together).

nice black
smart brick combination
Comment by Michel Troy ~UrbanPixel~ (Upixel) 19th March 2011
Thank you both!
@Upixel: The brick combination wasn't entirely my idea... The swash down at the bottom was inspired by Calligraphique.

Sheesh! How you did that 'swing' in the serifs! Amazing technique!

Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “A Stroke of Geneus1” is now a Top Pick.
Comment by Rob Meek (meek) 21st March 2011
@kix: I'd say the same for every single one of your fonts. Thank you!
@K_a_m_i: See the picture... I just made two composites, and that (coupled with the 2x2 filter technique) allowed me to make a fairly realistic serif techniques. Like I said, I was inspired by the serifs in Calligraphique, by geneus1.
@meek: THANK YOU! As always, this is an honor unlike any other.

Actually, this is the first "smooth" font of mine that has received a TP. All of my others are pixel fonts.
Comment by Logan Thomason (xenophilius) 21st March 2011
Congratulations on this well deserved TP!

really nice job. very pleasing and smooth. your classic pixels are nice also - your uncial-inspired series. you do them well. continue to have fun and explore.

I'm glad my work was an inspiration for you, xenophilius. I like the flair in your flared swashes! Sorry I wasn't able to respond when you released this. Time is a little slower for me since living in the third dream level of Inception. ;-) And I think your best fontstruction is yet to come.
Comment by geneus1 16th August 2011
Haven't been on here a while ;)

Thanks SO MUCH, geneus! I'm actually planning on a better version than this. I think a comment from you was enough to spur me on to make another, similar font.

I think I'm going to give this one some serious renovation as well; I actually feel like this could have been a lot better, although it still is my best font. Ah, I'll just release the other font that I was planning, and call it something else that doesn't have a pun. I'm really grateful that you commented on such a lowly fontstructor as myself; it makes me feel like I'm a pro or something (which is a laugh).

I'll stop rambling now. Thanks a lot, geneus, and I hope you keep dishing out masterpieces. By the way, I won't begrudge you for taking a while to comment. I'm guilty of that myself.

Thanks as well to fk. Sorry again for taking a while to comment.

Almost done with this "best fontstruction" that, according to gene, "is yet to come". Get ready for it.
