Love this crazy thing. Very original and strangely functional. Welcome to Fontstruct. Maybe you should try to have different basic shapes for the D and the O, even with your smart solution, it's still a bit confusional.

Hello, i found a very simple way to distinguish your D better : Just flip it horizontally and then vertically. For that, go to the advanced menu by clicking on the advanced button, then click on Modify, and then you will have the flipping options, click on Horizontal, then on vertical. I think it works with the rest of your design.
