The name refers to its diminutive size calculated in Light pico seconds (Lps). 1 Lps is the distance the light travels in vacuum in 1 picosec. It is = 0.3 mm approximately. To give a hint to those who are not familiar with the international units: a foot long Subway sandwich is almost exactly 1 Lns (Light nanosecond) long.

I am quite aware of the fact that there are several fonts out there of the same proportions / style. I did not scrutinized them, nor did any comparative study of them. If it turns out that Picosec is a close imitation of any particular font it will certainly end up in the circular folder. It was only a small exercise I could not resist.

Nice exercise! and informative, too!
I like the subtle j/i difference, very nice!

maybe on a circular, but never in it :) this is a fine block font. the glyphs work well together.

When restricted to a finite number of bricks there is bound to be a measure of convergence and synchronicity.

That said, this stands up really well on its own merits.

PS: re the subway analogy - have you taken the mayo diffraction factor into account? ;-)
Comment by p2pnut 10th september 2009
@p2pnut: A valid point based on good empirical evidence. I think we have to introduce the "mayo coefficient" to calculate that.
