I%20wanted%20to%20create%20a%20very%20brutish%20display%20type%20that%20could%20be%20used%20in%20a%20project%2C%20my%20influences%20were%20early%201930%27s%20fonts%20like%20futura%20black%20and%20braggadocio%20as%20well%20as%20Compacta%20from%20the%2060%27s.%20%20its%20yet%20to%20be%20finished.

8%20comments837%20glyphs37A%20favorite%20of%202%20users2As%20part%20of%20my%20%22Found%20Type%22%20project%20at%20UWE%2C%20we%20had%20to%20design%20a%20font%20for%20a%20theme%20that%20we%20chose.%20I%20chose%20%20Ornate.%20I%20was%20particularly%20drawn%20to%20this%20theme%20due%20to%20its%20relations%20with%20Biblical%20manuscripts%20and%20the%20architecture%20within%20Churches.%20I%20ended%20up%20combining%20the%20manuscript%20like%20lettering%20with%20features%20of%20Churches.%20I%20realised%20that%20this%20combination%20creates%20a%20great%20contrast%20between%20thick%20and%20thin%2C%20straight%20and%20curves.%20I%20found%20it%20difficult%20to%20create%20curves%20on%20font%20struct%2C%20but%20I%20rose%20to%20the%20challenge%20and%20created%20this.%20I%20hope%20you%20enjoy%21

Category: -16%20downloads166%20comments6106%20glyphs106A%20favorite%20of%207%20users7I%20am%20studying%20in%20my%20third%20year%20of%20Graphic%20Design%20at%20the%20university%20of%20the%20west%20of%20England%20%28Bristol%20UWE%29.%20I%27ve%20been%20away%20from%20fontstruct%20for%20over%20a%20year%20now%2C%20and%20over%20the%20last%20few%20weeks%20I%27ve%20seen%20some%20of%20the%20new%20first%20year%20students%20using%20it%20a%20lot.%20I%20couldn%27t%20help%20but%20notice%20the%20new%20bricks%20and%20brick%20stacking%20features%20that%20are%20now%20available.%0D%0A%0D%0A%20%0D%0AI%20have%20designed%20this%20typeface%20on%20a%20very%20small%20scale%2C%20to%20allow%20for%20the%20bezier%20curves%20created%20by%20the%20new%20bricks.%20I%20have%20had%20to%20use%20some%20creative%20brick%20stacking%20in%20order%20to%20get%20as%20much%20form%20out%20of%20the%20typeface%20as%20I%20could.%20%0D%0A%0D%0A%0D%0ASome%20of%20the%20lowercase%20glyphs%20seem%20to%20have%20some%20similar%20resemblance%20to%20the%20modernist%20typeface%20%22universal%22%20by%20Herbert%20Bayer.%20Although%20%22universal%22%20has%20no%20uppercase%20glyphs%2C%20whereas%20mine%20does%21%0D%0A%0D%0A%0D%0AI%20am%20really%20pleased%20with%20this%20font%2C%20so%20thanks%20very%20much%20to%20fontstruct%20for%20putting%20in%20the%20new%20features.%0D%0A%0D%0A%0D%0AWhen%20using%20this%20font%2C%20I%20recommend%20that%20you%20set%20the%20tracking%20to%20around%20-120%20or%20so%2C%20and%20set%20the%20kerning%20to%20%22optical%22%20rather%20than%20metrics%22.%20The%20letters%20will%20set%20quite%20nicely%20under%20these%20settings.%0D%0A%0D%0AHope%20you%20like%20it%21%0D%0A%0D%0A-%20Joe%0D%0A

4%20downloads462%20glyphs62This%20type%20face%20was%20designed%20for%20a%20project%20on%20my%20first%20year%20of%20graphic%20design%20at%20UWE%20%28university%20of%20the%20west%20of%20england%29.%20I%20worked%20on%20the%20word%20%27Motion%27%20so%20i%20hope%20this%20evokes%20that%20feeling%2C%20movement%20etc.%20Its%20based%20on%20a%20standard%20geometric%20sans%20serif%20font%20structure%20much%20like%20Helvetica%20or%20Futura.
