I chose to look at the theme 'Decay', and was inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, Anna Garforth, Daniele Del Nero, and natural occurrences such as rotting fruit and mould. I grew mould and made observational sketches, experimenting with a range of drawing techniques. I then drew out my font, and used graph paper to translate it into pixels. Lots of experimentation solely using paints; quick hand movements and flicks to produce a messy, unrefined effect. Working in less than 1 second for each letter (with real paints), used as reference. In early development stages I looked at brambles and attempted to create a typeface that seemed naturally pointed, as opposed to industrially sharp. Also took cues from modern death metal typography. Currently no numbers or lower case due to time constraints.
