He's made wooden stamps for the basic motifs, and rotated and combined them to create fantastic woven fabric patterns. I've simply taken his idea a step further using combinatorics. Please note, this is a Fontstruct rendering, and as such may differ from the original.This%20work%20is%20based%20on%20M.C.%20Escher%27s%20woven%20ribbon%20motifs%2C%201938%2C%201942.%20He%27s%20made%20wooden%20stamps%20for%20the%20basic%20motifs%2C%20and%20rotated%20and%20combined%20them%20to%20create%20fantastic%20woven%20fabric%20patterns.%20I%27ve%20simply%20taken%20his%20idea%20a%20step%20further%20using%20combinatorics.%20Please%20note%2C%20this%20is%20a%20Fontstruct%20rendering%2C%20and%20as%20such%20may%20differ%20from%20the%20original.

I'm sorry this isn't very complete and far from being perfectly well done, but it somewhat started to make me feel dizzy...;) And even though I'm not very convinced by this, I don't think I'd come up with a way better execution soon.I hope for Mr Escher that there are better tribute fonts for him out there! He'd definitely deserve it...It was by the way funk_king's Impossible Alphabet that reminded me of this unfinished thing laying around in my messy unpublished fontstructions box, and made me take it out and finish it. (If you can call 42 characters "finished".) C. Escher. IsoMatrix was a font long before Fontstruct, and was much harder to realize with bricks than vectors. This one is shared thanks to the intricate 3D output of the following fontstructors: shasta's Escheresk, frodo's Hommage a Escher, and funk king's Soma.
