Following my ‘ornate’ theme I also wanted to keep each letter very attractive making each letter look like an ornament but also if used a full body text still holds this ornamental theme.The%20typeface%20was%20created%20with%20influence%20from%20fonts%20used%20on%20circus%20posters%2C%20I%20wanted%20it%20to%20come%20across%20as%20quite%20flamboyant%20with%20a%20sleek%2C%20more%20modern%20undertone%20which%20I%20think%20I%20have%20achieved%20with%20the%20thin%20vertical%20lines.%20Following%20my%20%E2%80%98ornate%E2%80%99%20theme%20I%20also%20wanted%20to%20keep%20each%20letter%20very%20attractive%20making%20each%20letter%20look%20like%20an%20ornament%20but%20also%20if%20used%20a%20full%20body%20text%20still%20holds%20this%20ornamental%20theme.

The font is made for a UWE project. Interpreting a word using type. The project is called 'Found Type'. My word is ornate and I have tried to recreate a font reminiscent of the late 1800s.Try%20not%20to%20judge%20the%20font%20too%20harshly%20as%20is.%20As%20it%20needs%20much%20tweaking%20and%20work%20to%20make%20it%20consistent.%20Although%2C%20I%20am%20happy%20with%20the%20progress.%20The%20font%20is%20made%20for%20a%20UWE%20project.%20Interpreting%20a%20word%20using%20type.%20The%20project%20is%20called%20%27Found%20Type%27.%20My%20word%20is%20ornate%20and%20I%20have%20tried%20to%20recreate%20a%20font%20reminiscent%20of%20the%20late%201800s.

I have based this typeface on a similar (un-named) font that has been found in a Typefounders Catalogue dated before 1955, I really liked a lot of the ornate qualities and decided to bring this forgotten typeface into the modern day by replicating features of it through this digital medium. Initial research led me to design a typeface where each letter is arranged from a single length of ribbon (although I have had to break this rule for some punctuation). I laid the ribbon out into the shape of each letterform and copied every angle on Fontstruct to get it just right. Due to us UWE students overwhelming the Fontstruct servers tonight, I can’t edit my Fontstruction any more right now, but I should have all those little out of place bits and bobs nice and tidy in the next week. Best viewed zoomed in slightly.
