My starting point for the font was the word MOTION. After having eliminated various literal interpretations of this word I began looking into political movement (movement being a synonym of the word motion), in particular the current international protests against corporate greed. The Occupy Movement. Strong, bold lettering was an essential element when designing this in order to give a big impact. The initial theme for my project was "Decay" where I researched different types of rotting, erosion and decay of quality in every day objects. I then came to look at crumbling brick walls and developed my font from there. I've tried to show a lack in defined edges and emphasise a crumbled, smudgey typeface. I think it could be used as a relatively playful font,but could have strong impact if used for communicating the idea of decay or decompositon. This is a bold font, meant to be used big! I looked at sequences and patterns, which led me onto numbers and games. after playing with a few ideas i have decided to work on a typeface based around the well known game domino's using solid fonts such as Impact as inspiration for the letter forms.
