This font contains all the Basic and 'More' Latin characters (these will support many non-English languages that use umlauts and accents.) All characters are kept within the same 5x7 grid, which means that descending characters, such as 'g', 'p', and 'y', are shifted up so as not to extend below the line. Godwin (1833-1886) born in Stokes Croft, Bristol. He was influential in the Aesthetic movement that created "the look" of Victorian Britain. He began his career working in the strongly polychromatic "Ruskinian Gothic" style of mid-Victorian Britain, inspired by The Stones of Venice, then moved on to provide designs in the "Anglo-Japanese taste" of the Aesthetic Movement and Whistler's circle in the 1870s. A friend of Oscar Wilde, James Whistler and William Burges he was also the father of revered actress Dame Ellen Terrys illegitimate child. Godwin's influence can be detected in the Arts and Crafts Movement. To judge from his sketchbooks at the Victoria and Albert Museum, one might have expected an eclectic historicist, but Godwin, by no means a tame reproducer of antiquarian Gothic designs, was among the first to extend the European design repertory to include the arts of Japan, which had been opened to the Western world in 1853. His work is undergoing a revival since he was jokingly adopted as the patron saint of Stokes Croft by community action group the Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft. The group aim to to put some of his finest architectural achievements in the city back to good use as many of them despite being buildings of some historical significance lie empty and unused. I took the basic concept and extended it to an entire alphabet. (For now, it's uppercase only.) Of course, it's also fun to release this font after South Carolina destroyed in-state rival Clemson on Saturday. (34-17) I've added a few characters to commemorate the victory. I ended up doing a little kerning in a fontlab to get it to where I wanted. That version is not downloadable - sadly enough.This%20is%20an%20attempt%20to%20extend%20acceptability%20of%20the%20bitmap%20Slightly%20with%20sub%20size%20dots%20and%20%22twist%20joins%22.%20I%20ended%20up%20doing%20a%20little%20kerning%20in%20a%20fontlab%20to%20get%20it%20to%20where%20I%20wanted.%20That%20version%20is%20not%20downloadable%20-%20sadly%20enough.

They have no diagonals, just semi-circles and straight lines. This alphabet is the attempt to extend this construction principle to a complete (well: caps only) alphabet that you could easily cut from metal. And - like any principle that doesn’t come from writing – it doesn’t really work. But was fun making.The%20Tech%20house%20numbers%20were%20designed%20for%20DWR%20and%20made%20out%20of%20stainless%20steel.%20They%20have%20no%20diagonals%2C%20just%20semi-circles%20and%20straight%20lines.%20This%20alphabet%20is%20the%20attempt%20to%20extend%20this%20construction%20principle%20to%20a%20complete%20%28well%3A%20caps%20only%29%20alphabet%20that%20you%20could%20easily%20cut%20from%20metal.%0D%0AAnd%20-%20like%20any%20principle%20that%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20come%20from%20writing%20%E2%80%93%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20really%20work.%20But%20was%20fun%20making.
