This project at UWE Bristol was to create a typefacd based around one word; so I looked into the word 'Curves' (which I probabily will never do again) and eventually came up with this. The idea came from looking at curves in lizards and vines, then linking the curvy-reptile theme with Medusa - hence 'Green Eye'. Originally I was going to base it on a serif typeface but found that far too difficult on Fontstruct so used aggressive strait lines - similar to pre-historic drawings - to provide contrast against the seductive curves to make it seem like an Evil Temptress. The serif's are there to add authority. First, the typeface has a single serif per letter. Instead of ornamenting each character with multiple serifs, a single serif is used to highlight a dominate feature in the form. Secondly, the idea of only one serif on a character is unique to the serif style of lettering. The name ‘Odin’ represents the strong Russian influence in the letter styles. With the thick, chunky aesthetics reminiscent of woodcuts, and the strong planar shifts, the aggressive nature that the Russian style is known for is depicted here. This typeface is best used for headline type because it draws attention and authority to whatever it is saying. The weight of each form also allows for an intensive use of color if so desired. The typeface can also be versatile in it’s nature. Um genau zu sein während der Typografiekurse bei Florian Hartwig. Ziel war es innerhalb eines Tages alle Kleinbuchstaben des lateinischen Alphabetes zu erstellen. Entstanden ist eine Schrift, die sich gut für Headlines oder als Zierschrift, jedoch nicht für lange Lesetexte einsetzen lässt. Möglicherweise werde ich bald auch die Großbuchstaben und weitere Sonderzeichen und Zahlen hinzufügen.
