I've simply altered the style of a few letterforms and made the stroke width identical and consistent. I think this makes the type feel a little more geometric. This is the slightly rounded version of Gendai Block.Based%20on%20Wim%20Crouwel%27s%20famous%20%22hiroshima%22%20typeface.%20I%27ve%20simply%20altered%20the%20style%20of%20a%20few%20letterforms%20and%20made%20the%20stroke%20width%20identical%20and%20consistent.%20I%20think%20this%20makes%20the%20type%20feel%20a%20little%20more%20geometric.%20This%20is%20the%20slightly%20rounded%20version%20of%20Gendai%20Block.

Yes this font is really 42 years of age and I'm also a bit old. (I tweeked some characters a bit after all those years, I had to). We use in Dutch the lower-case character 'ij' ligature instead of that ypsilon 'y'. No upper-case of course. On the upper-case set the 'y' is in its place.Yes%2C%20another%20answer%20to%20the%20New%20Alphabet%20of%20Wim%20Crouwel%20but%20this%20one%20was%20part%20of%20a%20project%20for%20my%20graduation%20in%201969-1970%20at%20the%20Academy%20for%20Visual%20Arts%20in%20Arnhem%2C%20the%20Netherlands.%20Yes%20this%20font%20is%20really%2042%20years%20of%20age%20and%20I%27m%20also%20a%20bit%20old.%0D%0A%28I%20tweeked%20some%20characters%20a%20bit%20after%20all%20those%20years%2C%20I%20had%20to%29.%20We%20use%20in%20Dutch%20the%20lower-case%20character%20%27ij%27%20ligature%20instead%20of%20that%20ypsilon%20%27y%27.%20No%20upper-case%20of%20course.%20On%20the%20upper-case%20set%20the%20%27y%27%20is%20in%20its%20place.

Presenting his recreation of the font, igorrossi said there: "A second contribution to the Crouwel's fonts replicas. This one was also inspired by a poster, for an exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven (picture in the comments section). I thought it had never been reproduced before, until I came across edgar fernhout by funk_king. Next time I'll search on Fonstruct before I start a new font but, well, we have both good taste... Along with Wim Crouwel and Josef Albers, Jurrian Schrofer (1926 - 1990) was among the Bauhaus pioneers of grid-based modular typography and design. Schrofer's work experimented with type, light, and color and focused on mathematical shapes and pattern. From the book ‘Dutch Type’ by Jan Middendorp: “Schrofer made several attempts to create complete typefaces - one of which was wittily called Sans serious - but this was never his goal. ‘Is it necessary’, he wrote, ‘to make complete alphabets with upper- and lowercase, figures, diacritics and seriously adorned with a name, when the aim is merely a formal investigation into basic recipes’ Schrofer's domain was never the design of typographic alphabets, to be used by other designers, but always the creation of letterforms ‘made to measure’ as part of his own designs of - mainly - book covers and postage stamps. He created a rectangular alphabet as the basic element of his ever-changing covers - each based of the same grid but colored differently - for a series of scientific books, ‘Les textes sociologiques’ from Mouton Publishers. He made sophisticated pixel-based letters, all drawn by hand, and experimented with photographic screens as a means of distinguishing simplified letterforms from the background. It's based on the Stedelijk Alphabet, used in a poster for an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (picture in the comments section). The font has already been extended and released by a foundry : http://www.foundrytypes.co.uk/foundry_architype_3/archi_3_stedel.html, and by several fontstructors : see Getting Away With It - Kerned by Goatmeal, Amsterdam by fizgig, Wim Crouwel 68 by sc0ttwats0n and Steadelijk by delicraig.
