Bonset was the pseudonym that Theo van Doesburg used to publish Dada poetry in his magazine De Stijl. This FontStruction is loosely based on van Doesburg's alphabet of 1919. I have not followed his strict grid of 25 x 25 (unlike Freda Sack and David Quay's revival, Architype Van Doesburg, or P22's De Stijl Regular) -- in other words, some of my caps and numerals deviate from van Doesburg's original design. This type appears a tiling on a housing project in the 30s in my neighbourhood, called Patrimonium.I%20made%20this%20font%20for%20a%20project%205%20years%20ago.%20Inspired%20by%20early%20De%20Stijl%20typography%20such%20as%20Van%20Doesburg%20posters.%20This%20type%20appears%20a%20tiling%20on%20a%20housing%20project%20in%20the%2030s%20in%20my%20neighbourhood%2C%20called%20Patrimonium.

A real quicky, imperfect and lacking in every concievable way. But it has a certain charm I think. Tried to make a displaytype influenced by bitmap fonts, but without any stair-stepping. So it's more something amond the lines of De Stijl.My%20first%20fontstruct%2C%20hurray%21%0D%0AA%20real%20quicky%2C%20imperfect%20and%20lacking%20in%20every%20concievable%20way.%20But%20it%20has%20a%20certain%20charm%20I%20think.%0D%0ATried%20to%20make%20a%20displaytype%20influenced%20by%20bitmap%20fonts%2C%20but%20without%20any%20stair-stepping.%20So%20it%27s%20more%20something%20amond%20the%20lines%20of%20De%20Stijl.

I tried to utilize the clever tricks from the magazine, but of course it still has it's weak spots and could never be anything but a display typeface. Most glyphs are 8x8 blocks, simple as can be. One great thing about this font is that it never needs kerning.
