I created 'Miss Havisham' as a branch off from the word 'Ornate'. This was designed during the first term of my Graphic Design degree at UWE Bristol. I began thinking about decorative work, and delicate materials such as lace, and silk. This then began to make me think of wedding dresses, and book characters, such as 'Miss Havisham' from the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations. I then began to look into her character in detail, and thought of her bitterness, as well as her heartbreak and femininity. I began after that, to think of her in a type, and created this type face. I can now see it being used in brochures, and fashion posters.
