Titled, 'Social Bubble' I aimed to represent how Covid-19 has affected our social lives. The reason for the different styles for each letter is to express how everyone's situation is different, however I did keep some consistency for aesthetic purposes. The bitmap style also represents how social interaction has become more digital due to people not being able to see each other face to face.

This is my own clone of the original version. It may look a little like my Kindegraf or Sketchy fonts, as it's my handwriting with a mouse, and I bet there isn't a lot of deviation there (with the handwriting) but it IS different. This free version almost has a Basic Latin character set. More characters would require more work, so any further development will require a purchase or donation. Happy to do it if anyone is interested in a more complete font, but not for free.

Originally created in 2013, when I still had little knowledge about the finer details of type design. I've made major changes to the original design while trying not to lose its original feel (avoiding diagonal strokes, for example). I ended up making major changes to M, Q, T, W, f, k, m, q, r, t, and w, and minor changes to a bunch more; a ton of kerning was also required. It's not very polished yet, but it's a start...

Some alternates are available in Latin Extended A. As always, suggestions and critiques are welcome. Thanks and enjoy!

My font was originally based around the word sharp which lead on to looking at the strcutures of glass when broken. I built my font outwards trying to use the centre of broken glass as the middle, almost like a point of impact. When building it further the font almost had this kaleidoscope effect so I tried to make the sides symmetrical but still having the main focus on the centre.

ASL is not a written language, but this font should, hopefully, assist anyone wishing to learn ASL.

The following is a quote from Wikipedia:

"American Sign Language (or ASL, Ameslan) is the dominant sign language of the Deaf community in the United States, in the

English-speaking parts of Canada, and in some regions of Mexico. Although the United Kingdom and the United States share English as a

spoken and written language, British Sign Language (BSL) is quite different from ASL, and the two sign languages are not mutually

intelligible

ASL is often written with English words in all capital letters, which is known as glossing. This is, however, a method used simply to teach

the structure of the language. ASL is a visual language, not a written language. There is no one-to-one correspondence between words in

ASL and English, and much of the inflectional modulation of ASL signs is lost.

There are two true writing systems in use for ASL: a phonemic Stokoe notation, which has a separate symbol or diacritic mark for every

phonemic hand shape, motion, and position (though it leaves something to be desired in the representation of facial expression), and a more

popular iconic system called SignWriting, which represents each sign with a rather abstract illustration of its salient features. SignWriting is

commonly used for student newsletters and similar purposes."

Then I just doodled some repeating patterns. Then I saw how I can fill the patterns inside the letters. They fit together pretty easily for vertical letters, but diagonals were really tricky. The end product resembled Hawaiian leis draped over each glyph. Very floral. So there you have it. Flowers. For Casey. :)
