The biscuits are thin, crunchy, light, not too large, not very sweet, melt on the tongue, and biscuits very like the original can be made/baked quite easily.

The traditional version has a limited range of letters, enough to write the name of town, manufacturer and product. I've been unsuccessful in finding an image of the font which contributed just a few letters to decorate these biscuits.

I spent some time looking at other type of the Victorian/Art Nouveau era until I had collected enough information to help me design the missing letters. I added the French diacritics, naturally. I think my additions look successful and the whole font looks quite Art Neauveau and in the style used originally.

The square brackets [ and ] make a biscuit shape when used 'blank'.

Bon appetit, enjoy your "Biscuit de l'Ouest".

Now with lowercase characters and accents! UPDATES: Sep 13, 2015: I've also been made aware that the '7' has changed between the promotional material and the actual game. I've updated the actual '7' to reflect the in-game character as it is more legible. The '7' in the promotional art is now taking the place of the Dagger (†), because honestly, who uses that? In all seriousness, if anyone can suggest a better home for it, I'm all ears. Sep 17, 2015: Found a reference for the letter 'J' and updated accordingly. Nov 12, 2015: Several glyphs have been updated! Notable changes include the ugly old '*' being changed into a star, and the '†' being changed into a crown, as well as several minor tweaks here and there.

I've made it as accurate as possible.
The only characters I didn't find good references for were J, and some punctuation.
UPDATES:
Sep 10, 2015:
I released an "Extended" version of this font that includes lowercase characters and accents, but I'll keep this one for the genuine all-caps feel.
Sep 13, 2015:
Accented characters have been added to this version as well.
I've also been made aware that the '7' has changed between the promotional material and the actual game.
I've updated the actual '7' to reflect the in-game character as it is more legible.

I chose to develop the theme messy, I thought to myself ‘what makes a mess?’ This led me to the idea of toast, it’s messy and especially when burnt. I cut letters out of burnt toast, I really liked the effect it had made therefore it influenced me to develop it further within FontStruct. I decided to use Helvetica as a guide purely for its simple, clean letterforms, hence why I have named my typeface ‘Burnt Helvetica’. I wanted to really capture the essence of the burnt areas with shading, therefore my inspiration came from cutting the burnt toast around a Helvetica letter template, photographing it and printing it on graph paper. Due to the nature of the font being messy I wouldn’t use it on anything formal or of importance, I feel that it would be suitable to be used within children associated designs, definitely food related designs and perhaps something rather playful or of course, messy. This is my first attempt using FontStruct all feedback is welcome.

My final entry in the competition. Inspired by Mazey, zlabyrinths eYe/FS, and wavelength. Each glyph has its own maze, and each maze connects with the next. Tilde ~ and low line _ connect words, grave ` closes beginnings and ends, and the left and right arrows < > are for the start and end. There are also some alternates in Extended Latin A. Suggestions and critiques are welcome. Thanks!

UPDATES:
04/06/14 The whole font has been updated to be one brick taller, and thus properly fit onto a grid. Also, some characters have been redesigned. V2.0
05/13/14 All punctuation has been modified to continue a word maze. V2.1
07/05/14 1000 downloads! Hooray! As a 'thank you', I've completed more of More Latin. V2.2
08/22/14 I've made the accents part of the maze. I've also changed a few characters, and added Œ and œ. V2.3
08/04/15 Added Polish support with Ą, Ć, Ę, Ł, Ń, Ś, Ź, and Ż. Tweaked a few characters as well, and added a crossbar to the ð. V2.4

06/18/16 Added support for multiple languages with more Cyrillic chars and punctuation. Also tweaked a few chars.
