Description:
OK. Here's "VUVUZELA" A typeface inspired by the continent of africa, but mainly by the WorldCup of soccer 2010 in South Africa! To catch on of the strongest associations for me relating to africa, i chose black and white stripes, maybe to remind of zebras or other animal patterns. But the effect also stands for the "swoosh" of a ball flyin by, for just the the "sporty" feel i wanted it to have. Enjoy it. There's an alternative "a" on "=" cheers kix

NIIICE! How about some more characters like some spooky faces instead of the special punctuations … just an idea.
Awesome work! Really well done. Great style!

The latest Kix masterpiece. Excellent work, kix! I don't know how you do this stuff!

Wow! I counted the height... it's 57 pixels high! (or something along those lines)
Yes, I cloned it. Don't ask how.

@xenophilius. Cloned? That's a bug. I've disabled all cloning until that's fixed. I see you deleted the clone. Thanks!

A superb, great font. Excellent job this one (which I'm jealous, of course). Congrats.

Thanks everyone and hello.
Feels good to be back. I broke my arm, so i guess i have a little "extratime" now...
Of causeI'll spend some of it for working on this. And do some of those spooky masks, cause it's just a friggin good idea :)

Brilliant in its simplicity, smoothness & appearance.

Sorry you broke your arm; hope you had fun doing it. :-)

Uppercase finished.

And no, it hurt :)

Brilliant. W, N & M are triumphs.
Do you think the thicker side of D & B should be switched, to be like the C,G,O,P,R etc ?

hey nippa!
-i knew, IF someone would ask that question, it would be you :)
Naturally, i already thought about it and it's a questioncoming up within almost EVERY fontstruction i've done:
How much strictness and repetition does a/my font need?
And on the other hand: How much can a glyph be unique, but still fit to the set?
The characters you mentioned are like they are, but on purpose, to "ease" the look a little bit.
thx meek

This one is so exquisitely beautiful. The propitious fusions of so many styles (light extended slab serif, as in American Typewriter~>super ellipsoid sans, like Apex New~>stencil & african!) is a total success. The superb and playful african effect is achieved totally through inventive serif surgery. So deftly controlled and cool! The “serif surgery” is itself a natural extension of the stencil look, which itself can be extrapolated from the opposition of serif and sans styles, leading right back to the serif surgery and completely the conceptual loop. An incredibly tight, deliberate, utterly unique yet seemingly inevitable result. Timeless/10!

Your previous work in mashing up contrasting styles has been taken to a new level.

Get well, soon, brother Kix!

Adien Gunarta

what the meaning of vuvuzela?

xenophilius
xenophilius Tue, 8th March, 2011

@Adien: It was a really irritating instrument used during the World Cup. It's basically a very long horn that is multicolored and makes a lot of very obnoxious sound.

It's finally done. I cleaned out some fleas, optimised the letter space and... added NUMERALS!

@tylo:
Sorry, but i don't think there will be creepy masks, it just so big right now...

@banjozebra:
Gridsize is 78 x 72 :/

@xeno:
