The Troglodykes are cave-dwellers who have turned their back on civilization. Written communication with the outside world, however, is conducted in a specially adapted form of (Elizabethan) english but scrutiny of this alphabet will demonstrate they have little patience with phoenecian/arabic numerals, preferring roman.

Their barter system, naturally enough, centres around gems: lesser stones progressing through the more highly prized: ruby, sapphire, diamond, and on to gems unknown to the outside world, referred to as "bismals".

Procreation has not been observed; differences between the genders (if any) are hard to discern, but are reputed to involve rare earths and music.

Very groovy, between gothic and industrial. And so exotic. That got the 10.
