Have been messing around inserting logos into QR codes this morning and that got me thinking about pixel fonts. This started as a 3x5 monospaced grid which was then expanded to a 3x7 with the introduction of the decenders on the lower case letters. As ever with small fixed grid letters mwz give legibility issues.

You can mitigate the mentioned legibility issues by adding e.g. some weight (to MmWw) or removing some (from z, using the mirror of s), but I'd recommend you try cloning "Pixel8" as a 4 x-height at first.
