Another one for the purists to gnash their teeth at. (I'm laughing.) I'm one of those crazy people who just loves faking it. If it was bezier, it wouldn't be so muchfun.

Smooth-a-licious.

That 2 vote was not from me...that's so brain-dead.

There is plenty to like in Manganese: nice rounded forms, and a curl on top of some glyphs. The latter gives them a hint of Hebraic flavour. I also noticed, you nonchalantly sidestepped the number 4 conundrum. A bold yet elegant move. 10/10

P.S. I wanted to do this review a bit later. But I could not bear it any longer that someone gave 2.0 for this work.

Sometimes I wonder there are people around here who enjoy themselves by degrading other's work: giving the lowest possible vote. A couple of days ago somebody ran amok causing a sudden drop of ratings of the recent top picks.

Thanks, guys. Low-voters aren't necessarily font-trolls, I suppose. Perhaps whoever gave it a two genuinely hated it. I mean genuine hatred in the sense of taking umbrage with the design for inconsistency, ugliness, illegibility, whatever. I can certainly understand a low vote in that sense.

Generally I dismiss a low vote because I know how much work (or not!) goes into my own designs, and it makes me fully appreciative of the efforts of others.

So somebody who votes a two either has an axe to grind, doesn't actually do much work in Fontstruct him/herself, or is merely mischievous.

I'm only actually interested in the first possibility.

trolls - the gift that keeps giving :) i guess anonymity is what the net is all about. but still i think the thing that bothers me is that we build a community and then allow these people, who obviously register just to down vote, the ability to inject negativity into our world :) again the voting system needs to be addressed. i also witnessed the episode that frodo refers to. it was totally ridiculous that this happened and outrageous. the system should be modified to address these situations. when a bunch of 1 votes occur within a short time frame say 1 or 2 hours - negate those votes. or limit the number or times a user can downvote or even vote. i suggest going to a totally radical voting system where to download a font you vote that "you like" the font. if you vote that you don't like - you can't dl. or whatever, but something should be done as the indicated negative behavior truly destroys the spirit of creativity that this place fosters.

Trolls: aptly named those creatures who trample on anything. They also have little brain and hate things they can't understand. Let them go back to their cave.:))

Sorry to ask this question here but I'm not sure where to direct my question:

Does anybody else have a problem with the toolbox disappearing? It doesn't happen to me often, but often enough that I'm wondering if I'm hitting a keystroke combination that shows/hides it. Or is it a glitch?

Could it be M? That switches to minimal view. Then everything disappears, even the bricks palette. Hit M to get it back. That should be the only way to hide the tools palette.

No, that doesn't seem to be it. I don't know if you can get into an unpublished file or not to see. It's called "Thingamajig" (temp name!) and the toolbox has stayed vanished since this afternoon.

I'll try opening a clone to see if that fixes it.

Whoops! Something weird going on. Now the file itself has gone walkabout. (That happened this afternoon as well but it reappeared when I logged on later.)

I've been having this file disappear/appear problem for a few days. I wonder what can it mean?

I had a look. Can't see the problem. It's likely that only you can see it. If you work out how and when the palette disappears let me know maybe in a message to my user account.
Regarding disappearing fontstructions, I'll have a look at that. It's probably a caching problem on the server - we changed something for user homepages recently.

When you clone a fontstruction now, then go to your My Fontstruct list, the cloned fontstruction does not appear as the latest font on the list. Instead, it is positioned as the last one on the entire list. This can be distressing if you have over a hundred fonts, such as yourself.

In order for it to appear as the first font, you can edit immediately after cloning, then save it.

Thanks, geneus 1! I'll do that from now on.

"it wouldn't be so muchfun"
I know how you feel!!!

Great One,
Two things: the dots on "i" and "j" are great but they look a lot like diacritics, second are you gona go for old style figures cause the 4 looks very good.

Yeah, I should. I was startled by the 4 because I had no intention of doing it this way but out it popped anyway. It looks better than all the other numerals! But I don't know if I can face the ordeal of trying to wrangle an extremely thick block of taffy into something half believable. Regular numerals are easier.
