This is great, and I love both the specimen and the alternate characters!

this is awesome! how did you get those curved corners? i had a look at a clone and still can't figure it out... sorry if this is a dumb question.

Nice work!

Excellent! :)

ok, i've found the brick stacking technique now. cheers

are you serious? that's awesome!

ok, i just checked it out, and that is amazing... well, for me it is as i never thought of scaling up x2 for both axis... i can be a little daft...

Thanks for the positive vibes all. Jettison owes a debt to many of you for laying the groundwork that led to its birth.
@SimonRobertson: Williaum is spot on with his dissection. I've simply scaled both the x and y from 1 to 2. I find this scaling gives more possibilities for brick overlapping. Like in the percentage glyph below where the curve meets the angle.

That's pretty damn cool!

I had dismissed brick scaling because I didn't like the global nature of it. But wasn't I lazy! I just didn't spend enough time familiarising myself with it to assess what it could do.

WELL! Thank you for creating a font that shows us!

Once you scale up you'll never go back;-)
Alfred, Chesterfield and Starstruc were all built using the 2x scale method. I think Jettison (at least 95% of it) could have been built at 1x scaling but when I started it I was already so use to laying brick at 2x that I found it confusing to go back to 1x. Below is an example of the "K" from the FontStruction Alfred. You can see some of the overlapping techniques I used to create the joint angles and in the fillets on the serifs.

Nice, clean work, Afrojet.

I thought everyone knew about how brick scaling worked!?! Many of my designs just wouldn't be possible without it. Thanks for posting your visual explanations. I can put up some if anyone is interested.

You're right, brick overlapping at 2x scale increases brick possibilities by a factor of 4. Everything you can do in 1x you can do in 2x, and then some. Not only that, depending on your design, you can cover the same amount of grid real estate that you would in 1x using only a quarter of the bricks.

Combine that with williaum's brick stacking technique, and you have exponential possibilities. Then the fun really begins!

@geneus1: The FontStruct Universe would be a better place, if you showed us how you do some of your magic. I'm pretty sure I stole the scaling idea from one of your earlier creations.

it's the language sometimes...
