EXPERIMENT:
How can one FontStruct offline, away from the Internet?

BACKGROUND:
While on a recent vacation, observed type-styles cried out for FontStruction, yet Internet costs were prohibitive. The idea of using a Spreadsheet program as a temporary FontStruct medium was conceived, with each brick as either a letter or number in a series of FontStruct fonts created ahead of time.

PARAMETERS:
--Program: Excel 2000
--Column Width: 1.86
--Row Height: 13.5
--Cell Format Number Category: Text
--Font Size: 13
--Aligment Horizontal: Center
--Aligment Vertical: Center

INSTRUCTIONS:
--Preload bricks using alphanumerics (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and TTF fonts (FontStructing Offline 1, 2 & 3)
--Use Copy and Paste functions to place bricks

KNOWN PROBLEMS:
--Non-centered bricks that are not a full unit in length and width are centered / kerned unnaturally
--Brickstacking not supported
--Cannot transfer Spreadsheet Fontstructions into online Fonstruct program

RESULTS/PROGNOSIS:
When using bricks that are highly specialized, the results are less than satisfying.

However, if using unit-length-and-width bricks, this process works quite well if you must simply FontStruct something offline.

Good luck!

Haha. Once bitten by the fontstruct bug, there's no cure.

A great solution, Goatmeal.

This is great. I guess we need an Excel import/export function ;-)

"My name is Goatmeal ... and I am a FontStructer"

Addict you may be, but you have held it together well enough to come up with an ingenious solution to getting your maintenance dose. :-)
