Quite a few of my fonts have bleats from me about trying to achieve curves so go to my page and have a look for the ones with discussions.
Brick scaling is a good thing to know about. It's in the "advanced/view/filters" tab when you're FontStructing. A scale of 2x2 will give you more flexible xy points for placement of bricks. (But it does take a bit of getting used to figuring out how the scaled bricks work -- all part of the fun.)
