It likely came from a newer ROM version; his font includes (1) a true lowercase set, (2) several different designs for the following characters: E F G N O S W 0 4 5 . , " ' @ * # $ % / : ; \ and (3) the addition of the following characters: ^ ` { | } ~

Yep. My font is derived from the CoCo 3 ROM, which used the same font as the "B" model CoCo 2. (I had both.)
