Nice! :)Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from caseycastillehttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2922http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2922Heh! Like heavy doilies! I like the contradiction! :)Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from intagliohttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2923http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2923Beautiful work. I especially like the "grungy" aspect. Maybe the doily was left out overnight.Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from Axel Leyerhttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2931http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2931Quiet impressive another time... Good work!Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from geneus1http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2934http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2934Whoa! :-D The beauticity of this one is affecting me in different ways. I like the unique direction you are going with it: Chinese Victorian Grunge Doilies! It is ambitiously delicious. I enjoy the meticulous patterns and the intense complexity in the multitude of bricks used, but I am feeling that there needs to be a slight modification of the vertical design motif on the stems to fit and thicken the diagonals of the V,W,X,Y, and Z, and perhaps the K, M, N and A. But that's just me. Anyway, the stuff you've been putting out lately is very interesting. Nice work!Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from caseycastillehttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2938http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2938Thanks, All - Geneus1; thanks for the suggestions. I fattened up the "Y"; take a look and tell me what you think. I can't make up my mind about it.Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from geneus1http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2959http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2959Okay, this is what I had in mind. Going by the "I" as a base, here are some options to approach the diagonals. I went with calligraphic strokes to thicken the left stems of the "V" and "Y". This treatment would work for the "W" and "X" as well. I attempted to assimilate the patterning on the "I" where the bottom remains darker and 'blooming' and the upper half is hollowed out. I think it balances it out better. Let me know what you think...
Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from kixhttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2983http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#2983i love it. i don't know 'bout the dots, but i love it.Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from sliveresshttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3011http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3011The craziness of this is really great. But I have to agree with geneus1, everything from V onward looks a bit starved (did the doilies burn?). I love that you used the bricks that looks like petals (or leaves), I couldn't figure out what to do with them myself ;) Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from caseycastillehttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3044http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3044Hey Geneus1 - I like what you did. If you want to clone it and we can post it as a collaboration, I'm down. I appreciate the constructive criticism. I have been a typeface/font nut all my life, and while I've been doing graphic design and digital imaging for about eighteen years, I just started learning how to create my own fonts. It's something I've always dreamed (and that's not too strong a word) of doing. So...I need all the help I can get at this point. Thanks to everyone for the comments and advice!Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from geneus1http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3082http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3082Will do, Casey. Can I call the clone "Oriental Ottoman?" JK! Since your creation inspired me to create, I've dedicated Fluoralei to you for sparking something inside me. :) Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from caseycastillehttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3094http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3094
Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000Comment from dnaberlinhttp://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3128http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/97452#3128wow...nice one, how much time did this take !
