I noticed your H in the FS Collaboration 1 and I thought it was so good you should have based a whole set on it. And now we have two sets: great achievement! (On a side note, I would have expected the stitch ends to be rounded, to look less like a pixel-based font at larger sizes, but that is just my opinion)

Nice, simple effect. I would have expected you to make a steeper, straight slope on the diagonals of the A, V and W. Nice complementary set.

i think this should give us all reason to be concerned. someone posting another person's work without permission or credit. unless we get our stuff out there, somebody else will and take credit and more importantly - downloads, for it.

funk_king, p2pnut, I can feel your pain – this sort of situation is annoying. But it is not the first time something like this happens, and it probably won't be the last. It is condemnable according to our ethics, but it does not violate the terms of the license under which the original work is distributed. From what I have seen, the site is redistributing ‘legal’ clones with links and credits back to the FontStruct website – where according to “clone rules” there is always a link to the original designer and FontStruction. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) I've spent quite some time on this issue last time. My interpretation was that revenue through adds characterizes commercial use. I contacted the webmaster directly, with no result, and we consulted with lawyer$. To make a long story short, “commercial use” is something that has yet to be precisely defined by the CreativeCommons (check this link for more information ). There's nothing we can do about this issue legally at the moment, I'm afraid. (As a side note: Did you try to contacting the webmaster directly? I think that's always worth a shot.) Every FontStructor needs to reflect about the implications of his/her licensing choices carefully. (And we [I] need to communicate better about it.) FontStruct stimulates sharing because it's fundamental for the sort of collective learning we see here. Sharing enables many things, a lot of them good (peer-review, collaboration, free publicity), others nasty (uncreative clones, fonts used badly, redistribution without approval, license violations etc). So, to me (as a FontStruct staff person, but also as a FontStructor) it's a matter of focusing on the good things and making sure there's plenty of them, always, so the bad stuff always loose. I do think there's plenty of good stuff happening on our community right now – new designs every day, constant comment and collaboration, new users joining. There were no major updates recently because we have been busy planning the next steps -- there are some important decisions to be made this and the following month. Also, I will be teaching a FontStruct workshop in Germany in November (preliminary program here), so I have been putting work into interesting content which will be made available for everyone.

I'm sorry for the thievery. This "ronosa" guy is named "punchis" on FS, but his profile does not feature amanerd. Anyway, your work is amazing, so as your sample. Isn't there a way to embed license informations directly into the .ttf file so that they can't be changed, even if you edit the font with an offline software ?

I second the idea for embedding the chain-of-license information in the font file itself. It would make it a lot easier to screen out the cloners. The links shown on FontSpace come directly from the font file. Is there a verdict if ronosa/punchis's version is a direct clone, or did he make any modifications? While this is sorted out, I've added a link to the original version here. Lastly, thank you kix for your increasingly popular font :)

hey all. thank you for recognizing this and posting this here. thank you mr. ferreira for giving me a quick view of the situation as well. After all i knew this could happen, when i chose the licence. And its by far not the first time. It IS the first time they didn,t mention i am the designer. in fact: in funk king's link some guy called punchis calls hisself AMANERDs designer and up on top anyone thinks he's got the copyright on this ?!? @fontspace.com: punchis "work" IS a direct clone. It's NOT the original font. He did NO modifications. I'm NOT angry, what you are doing is all totally legal, but i want this punchis a*****e mentioned nowhere in relation to my work. thanks @community: I know i had a long fs break, but i'll be back soon :)

Hello fontspace, thanks for coming over to talk to us. Amanerd is the real thing, as well as Grande and Masheenury. The chain-of-license information is currently present as links in the FontStruction's page, and in the license and the readme files in the download. I agree it would be good to have this data somewhere inside the fonts too; we will work on it. In the name of the FontStruct community, I would like to ask for the clones on fontspace.com to be substituted by the original FontStructions. They are as free as the clones, and they give the original designers their deserved credit. I think this would send a positive message to the FontStruct community, and help us to keep a healthy ecosystem. It would be bad for everyone if people start choosing more restrictive licenses for fear of 'font abuse'.
