Hilarious! Oldenburg defontstructionism in action.

Yes, it is awesome. Some of the letters remind me Salvador Dalí's work, e.g those melted clocks. I wonder, do we use the same tool set?

Haha. Great adaptation. They really do look melted. Way to make it yours. Love it.

:-)

I stand no chance of keeping up with the standard of the amazing geometric 'structions that some of you designer types come up with, so I just play around with interesting shapes.

Actually, Mrs pnut suggested a melted font some time ago and I thought this would be a good chance to experiment. Next, an original, fully melted effort perhaps.

This is cool, but by taking a look at the sample text I thought that maybe it would be even cooler if you would rework b and l. The b looks like a strange v and l seems to be a r/f-hybrid. Everything else seems to fit..just a suggestion ;-)

Yeah it's a great font but you should look into the "b" it looks a little too melted

LOL!
My regards to the muse that inspired this version.
It seems like Thal started a new trend, but you put your clone too close to the oven.

Instant FunStruct classic. :-)

Thanks to Thalamic for starting this remix series. It's amazing to see all different solutions born from Clone it. Make it better.

I think there is a little spacing problem with the l (too much space on the right).

One idea: you could use the uppercase to create variations of the lowercase letters, with shapes melted differently. Combining this variations would allow a more organic melted text image. :-)

@GFerreira: Yep, I like that idea!

Worked on the b and l ... and altered the spacing on the l - cheers all for your input :)

This one started out as a laugh - but, from the response, it looks like I had better finish the job. I only hope I can do the UC up to thal's standard (before I start on it with the blowtorch)

It's your font now, pnut. Your font, your standards. After seeing Entrees, your standards are better than mine. :-)

But, I think what gf was saying was that you should do lowercase again in the uppercase slots, only melted differently than the lowercase. This way, if someone was to type out text in this font, they can choose between two variants of each character, randomly using one or the other, giving the text a more, uh, realistic, melted feel. Am I right, gf?

Aha! the penny has dropped ... all is revealed etc. Thanks for pointing that out thal. OK, alternative lc it is :-)

gferreira_admin
gferreira_admin Mon, 17th August, 2009

Yes, Thalamic, that's what I meant. Just a humble suggestion. Thanks for explaining it better than I did. :-)

p2pnut

Your explanation was fine Gustavo ... it was my reading that was wonky.

Have got the alternative lc ready to melt - I ended up virtually redoing thal's original. I like to see what I am deconstructing :-)
